Can Foreigners Buy Property in Greece?
Greece imposes no nationality-based restrictions on property ownership. Non-EU nationals including Americans, British, Australians, Canadians, and Middle Eastern buyers can purchase property in Crete on the same terms as Greek citizens. Buyers need a Greek tax number (AFM), a local bank account, and independent legal representation. Total acquisition costs run 7-10% of purchase price.
